‘Double Blind’ will explore ideas of obedience, morality and personal responsibility and is partly inspired by the famous Milgram experiments of the 1960s – a series of revealing social psychology experiments into human nature and authoritarianism.
Double Blind is the latest major work for Stephanie Lake and will premiere in early 2015.
The work looks at notions of personal responsibility and obedience as well as the nature of experimentation – artistically, scientifically and psychologically. It is a work for four of Australia’s best dancers, Alisdair Macindoe, Amber Haines, Kyle Page and Alana Everett. Robin Fox again collaborates as composer and system designer.
Initially inspired by the Milgram Experiments – somewhat controversial psychological experiments from the 1960′s – the idea of the conflict between personal morality and our relationship with those in positions of authority was the seed of the work.
