In 2017 Unsound Adelaide returned as an expanded stand-alone festival after four widely acclaimed editions within the framework of the Adelaide Festival.

With an almost totally exclusive program of artists making their first appearances in Australia, the 2017 festival program took more risks than ever before, collapsing and blurring ideas of genres. Legendary names were pitched up against the very latest tendencies in electronic music, featuring noise, abrasive beats, mutated techno, ambience, improv, blown out rock, and splashes of colour and humour.

Dates and details of Unsound Adelaide 2018 coming soon.

Unsound Adelaide was outstanding in its conception and delivery, adding a crucially important dimension to musical programming in Australia. With a recurrent Unsound, Adelaide is now more firmly positioned in a growing world-wide circuit that focuses on and stimulates experimental composition, performance, technical development, discussion and criticism and supports local performers and communities. It is to be hoped that Unsound continues to flourish.
RealTime review of Unsound Adelaide 2017

Unsound Adelaide 2017 was a customisable subversive cultural communique reaching out across the city. One could take the blue pill, sit in comfort at the back of the auditorium and be aurally and visually entertained or one could take the red pill and stand upfront, consenting to sonic rabbit-hole surgery by Vibranium nano-bots.
This world-class event remains connected to its DIY roots and is a recommended adventure.
